About the Hosk

I’m the Marvellous Hosk, this blog is all about my adventures in the world of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

The Hosk blog is often based on opinion, not fact. They are a place to start your journey learning about a subject.  Don’t take my word for anything, go and learn about it yourself.

If you have a CRM related question, I would recommend first posting it on the CRM Forum (which is free) before emailing me because the CRM forum always has people waiting to help but the Hosk might be busy.

You can email me at ben.hosking@gmail.com if you have something interesting to say (recruiters please don’t send emails about jobs)

Ben not sure if you received my email but any chance you can start a Youtube channel and teach us beginners how to write code?

I second that notion Ben, you need to start tutorials on Youtube!

Ben, following you on Twitter – unfortunately I hate the idea of joining LinkedIn for privacy/policy reasons. I love the idea of you starting a Youtube video series on writing plugins as it’s non-existent. It’ll get some of us just starting off into the rhythm of things and get you massive recognition in the CRM community

      Hi

Start with the crm SDK. There is no wireframe or data flow but it will give you an understanding of the different parts of crm.

It depends on if you are writing plugins, JavaScript, console applications or wcf services.

I don’t think you can see who a record is shared with or who has access to a record.

Using VS2012 Ultimate, I have created a blank project. I then connect to CRM 2013 on-prem default solution that contains my plugin assemblies. I get connected fine, view the CRM Explorer in the GUI (all entities and most items are there), but when opening “Plug-in Assemblies” drill down, there is nothing there. Am I missing something? Is this not the method to view inside VS?

    Any help appreciated.
