Did Microsoft specify that you will need SQL 2012 to get the ‘large benefits’ of the rollup 8? I just read that now UR8 supports SQL 2012.

I assumed you would have to upgrade to SQL Server 2012 because the new reporting functionality needs it – powerview.
You could be right and that you might not have to upgrade, I had assumed (possibly wrongly) that other pieces of new functionality would leverage SQL server 2012.
